particularly on dalit rights, women rights, child rights and livelihood rights of the marginalized communities

Taking Part in Grama Sabha Meetings

Vaan Muhil staff actively take part in the Grama Sabha meetings that are held on four occasions in a year (January 26 (Republic day), May Day, August 15 (Independence Day) and October 2 (Gandhi Jayanthi). Involving elected Panchayat leaders and members in all its activities has been Vaan Muhil’s strategy so that its intervention at the grassroots level become effective.

During the Grama Sabha meetings, Vaan Muhil staff interact with the PRI members and participating villagers on important issues that concern the socio-economic development of the villages. During the Grama Shabas Vaan Muhil staff highlight certain subjects such as importance of girl child education, effective implementation of RTE Act and the role of PRIs, the impact of Sumangali Scheme on the adolescent girls and the need for prevention of recruitment of rural girls to the mills under the nefarious scheme and the proper implementation of Government scheme for rural women and Children.
